Thread, I went to compUSA today in Santa Clara and was looking at the desktops and laptops. Of the ones that had AMD processors (total of about 8-10 Athlon and Durons), all of them had their frequency listed, but no mention of their new ratings at all. Isn't this unusual ? Or is there a timeline after which they kick in ? Thanks for the response.

Maui.

"They do something called testing structures. Do you know what this means?"
One testing structure is usually a ring oscillator,
a closed loop of odd number of basic inverting gates.
It allows to estimate the working speed of a die.
Other structures may include simple transistors surrounded
by contact pads, or even just two pads to measure
resistance of polysilicon and metal layers.
Ask your buddy Elmer about other structures. He
claims to be an expert in chip testability. I am not.
