To: foundation who wrote (17653 ) 1/6/2002 2:53:25 PM From: Eric L Respond to of 197563 Ben, << Recent UMTS Release 99 corrections... >> Gosh when you posted this you were almost a month behind, and I'm a couple weeks behind myself. <g> Plenary 14 had already met and draft minutes of the plenary (and all WG chairmens' reports) had already published. 3GPP folks are a lot quicker to complete these duties than their 3GPP2 equivalents although I must say it was refreshing to see the Sync Channel Ad Hoc Teleconference minutes published in such timely fashion. << There are well under 100 requests for corrections from WG1 members in November! >> Yes there certainly were "well under 100" requests for corrections from WG1 members in November! Specifically there were 27 for the quarter from WG1 of which 20 were for FDD (DS) actually higher than in the previous plenary. However ... During the combined TSG-RAN #13, a total of 226 documents were handled. For R'99 266 CRs were approved, for Rel-4 (only, not including Category A CRs following from R'99 CRs) an additional 94 CRs and for Rel-5 (again not including Category A CRs) an additional 11 CRs. During TSG-RAN #14, a total of 235 documents were handled. For R'99 266 CRs were approved, for Rel-4 (only, not including Category A CRs following from R'99 CRs) an additional 60 CRs and for Rel-5 (again not including Category A CRs) an additional 15 CRs. You will note that the number of CRs approved for R'99' is identical to the previous plenary but as noted in the individual WG chairmens' reports the nature of those CR's has changed significantly to clarification and occasional corrections << Then again, WG2 often handles the lion's share... >> WG2 approved or revised and approved 19 CRs. They consolidated 4 others into those 19 and postponed 2 on UE positioning. They also reported that in the CRs they dealt with that there were "many corrections on aspects which were not described, unclear, or incorrect. The level of importance of CRs is decreasing (except on security and UP) and this should be the last major corrections for R'99". I suspect that the number will remain high as R'99' is new in early commercial stages. Some items may move out of R'99' and into R'4'. R'5' or even R'6'. One set of items that has consumed significant bandwidth is Site Selection Diversity Transmission (SSDT) in UTRAN (although UE aspects will resolve in R'99'). There appeared to be no significant show stoppers related to early stage commercialization) The latest (updated) draft minutes of the combined 14th TSG-RAN meeting held in Kyoto on December 11-14 are available here:list.3gpp.org - Eric -
