carra - VoiceStream and PCS are now in the 802.11 business. Not everyone agrees with me since so far no coherent business case has been demonstrated for 802.11. That is ....so far.

Given that most of the time we are gonig to want data we are goning to be stationery and manyof us will be in city conurbations that means that if we are near enough to a Hot Spot we will use that rather than steam age snail pace and expensive G3.

I mean why go at 3Mbps when you can go at 54Mbps? Something has happened while all the delays have been going on and that is that for City conurbations G3 is gradually becoming rendered irrelevant. They just took too long imho.

Not only that but 802.11 is very cheap, it doesn't cost $bns or even $100m or even $10ms or even $1ms ...it is free.

OK there are plenty of places that G3 will not cover and mving around in a vehicle is one big place, also most places away from city conurbations, but apart from that why use G3??????

A delay too far ended the big revenue numbers for G3.

Best,

L
