I would also like to add my thanks to Peter and Tuck for information, articulate responses, and entertaining wisdom. And to you Rick, for just being Rick.

Best Wishes To All For An Excellent 2002,
Mike

Rick,

You're in a difficult position here. It's pretty clear you outperformed every biofreak on SI that makes their performance public. You have enough modesty not to vote for yourself, even though you've earned it.

As for me, I'll accept Biotech Educator of the Year (which still seems strange considering how little I know compared to the other contestants), along with Peter. We complement each other well. I do volume and breadth, and Peter does quality. In any case, I've been learning a lot both from my own efforts and from all those folks you have mentioned. I look forward to meeting some of you.

And thanks everyone, for putting up with my quirks.

Best Wishes to All & Cheers, Tuck

Thanks, Rick.

based not on performance

Sniff. <g>

I hereby resolve to do better next year...

Peter

P.S. We all know you deserve this year's "Performance" award, but are too modest to award it to yourself. Or maybe there was stuff in the fine print about "employees and family of the sponsor not eligible for this award." <g>

2002 was a tough year for biotech investors. Capital preservation was a difficult goal, but it was key. There are many good bargains to be had, but few individuals with the resources to access them. A few of us did well, trading to a good year. In that spirit, honorable mention goes to Stefaan. A very successful -- but half-hearted -- effort was made at a short portfolio by one of last year's winners, and honorable mention therefore also goes to Tuck. However, this year's honors go to the best of our stock pickers......

I'm certain that this recognition derives from the entire SI biotech community. Congratulations, and thanks for imparting a good slug of knowledge to your peers!
