Paul,

I'm just wondering if we want the cost basis for the contest to be the closing price on December 31? It would be easier to set up the spreadsheet since the closing prices on December 28 would have to be looked up manually, whereas I can record the close yesterday automatically by downloading them. Also it seems to make more sense to start the contest as of Jan 2, no? Also since we extended the deadline, it might be better to use the close as of December 31 for the cost basis. Let me know. No problem either way. I just thought that I'd throw this out.

Bill,

I like your idea to give everyone $200k of play money for the portfolio thread; but I also agree with Ron that there have only been a few times that we ran low on money. One problem with this is the accounting as I would have to change the format of the spreadsheet to make sure that nobody overspends.

On shorting in the Z Portfolio...let's try it and see how it goes. If there is a problem with the accounting I'll let you know and we can stop at that point.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Dan
