Dear Mike: Yep, you are right. I presume the "elitists" figure anyone without a HS diploma is just too lazy to even stay in school. Sometimes thats right, but other times there are good reasons. Here are some examples I know of: 1. I had 3 brothers NOT ONE graduated from H.S. WHY, cause all 3 VOLUNTEERED and went into WWII. They were 14, 16 and 18 (youngest ran off and LIED about his age, next youngest badgered my Dad to sign for him) Hmmm, wonder if anyone does THAT TODAY?? All got GED's eventually. 2. Young friend of mine (25) is an immigrant. His parents being frightened of America roughness KEPT HIM OUT OF SCHOOL (illegally). He learned to speak English watching T/V. At age 12 he saved his OWN MONEY and BOUGHT HIS OWN BOOKS and studying on his own at home is SELF TAUGHT with not even his parents helping. He is now 25, enrolled part time in College (got his GED), works full time and supports both Parents. Hmmmm, wonder why he never got any SOCIAL WELFARE assistance YET he is making a future for himself. Oh shit, he is a damn conservative!! JDN
