CO2 is good for plants - they grow faster and lose less water to evapotranspiration. This is one reason that various deserts are getting greener in fact (opposite of media myths on desertification). Overgrazing too is responsible (that's the 2nd level myth out there in the conservation community) for woody shrub encroachment into semi-arid grasslands. Likely that this is one of the mechanisms reducing the impact of fossil fuel emissions by fixing more carbon.

The answer to global warming is technology not taxes to discourage use though latter may induce technological change in a slower and roundabout way. This includes carbon sequestration of the type being investigated at the Center I'm applying for a position at, conveniently enough :) Taxes on carbon fuel use won't promote sequestration.
