Yep, as did every other participant in that market. Now it might have had something to do with the way that Intel priced the Celerons to squeeze the other companies, and priced the PII to actually make money...

After they upgraded the spec to Super Socket 7, which was good to 500MHz or so, pretty close to doubling the speed. AMD could have likely squeezed some additional performance out of Socket 7, but they were moving to the Athlons by that time and that would have meant having a Socket 7 and an EV-6 version. EV-6 was a better choice for the future.

I won't ask if you had considered these things, we all know you didn't...
