I don't know how it works, but the idea I am not opposed to, our country and society believes in the idea of "a second chance", and that is a good thing. After all, a man/woman commits a crime, they pay their dues, and that should be the end of it. As far a civil service jobs, don't kid yourself they pay pretty good, you don't see many "help wanted" ads for them, LOL LOL. I do believe that civil service jobs should be on a "citizen first" basis, i.e. if two people apply, the one that is a citizen gets first choice, and I also believe that when our government spends tax dollars they should be required to be spent on American companies first for jobs and construction etc etc etc. IOW if they are going to buy tractors, (for example) for whatever, before they buy from a japanese company, they must first explain why john deere isn't the choice. The green card thing I think 10 years is a fair time for them to become assimilated if they want to and to learn enough about our country to be required to make the decision. The student visas need to be thoroughly gotten under control, agreed. There's way too much bs going on with them. I am not opposed to either putting repeated illegal alien offenders being incarcerated forever or executed, something needs to be done about the problem, and whenever action is taken the hammer needs to be dropped hard in the beginning to stop it cold. Afterwards, we can worry about how to deal with the problem maybe a little less harshly, but for the foreseeable future, IMO, they need to "shoot first and ask questions later" with these people. The hell with them. The only people that want illegal aliens in this country are poeple that hire them for slave wages, and people that want to use them for some sort of criminal activity. We DON'T need them. If it means that some whatever has to pay a living wage for the work they want done, then that's the way it should be. Afterall, that's what capitalism is all about. And as their wages rise, they will have more people finding that "hey doing that kind of work isn't so bad after all is it?"
