Yes the weak action of junk bonds lately certainly is a warning for the economy. In fact the failure of junk bonds to rally much is a key reason why I expect the stock market to drop sharply before long.

But I still expect junk bonds to do better than stocks this year. They still are near the lows, while stocks are up a lot and greatly overvalued.
