Good to see that plug 'n' play is coming our way.

Windows 2000/Me and above offers drivers for ImageMate, so all you need to do is plug it into a USB port and you are done.

Still nice to see that hardware is being adapted to allow for removable flash storage of various types.

Laptops accept CompactFlash with a PCMCIA adapter and don't require any drivers or other software. This has always been a big plus for CompactFlash, but has never really been popularized. Earlier SanDisk gave away a PCMCIA adapter with a CF card sale. That was back in 1997.

My wife and I shopped for a new fax/copier/printer for her home office last weekend. We decided on the HP 950vr which actually has a Memory Stick, CompactFlash and SmartMedia slot built into the chassis. It is a "high end" device with the latest HP color printing technology, but also offers basic office functions including a scanner. It sells for $399.99 and I had trouble finding it in stock...
