Stupid article. Stupid writer. Rings of incompetent headline innuendo misapplied uninformmed useless irrelevant ill-logic.
The charts speak more to the gross overvaluation of companies stock than the price of the mergers and resulting goodwill. IF JDSU exceeded 3rd World GDP that speaks of the valuation of JDSU itself, not that they used such an overvalued currency to buy something with and the seller demanded an equally ridiculous valuation.

If the article was completely re-written and re-researched it might possibly be informative. To start with the writer could have determined if the Goodwill writeoffs came from stock for stock purchases, cash purchases, undervalued stock for overvalued stock purchases (or vice versa). Only then could any real conclusive actionable facts be determined.

Absence of such basic, relevant thinking makes the article just yet another piece of worthless misguided Street.con trash.
