Elmer, Well, you have given me some stuff to research on. Complex is the operant word. It sounds like the testers can isolate and test segments of the CPU with regard to static and dynamic currents. This is the reolution you speak of?

It is possible to isolate different sections of a chip and it is done often, particularly when there are both digital and analog sections. The analog section may require isolation from the digital plane and the accompaning noise. Also maybe one section requires a different voltage level?

What I really meant was that if you are interested in measuring the subthreshold current, you need to do it statically because if you measure it dynamically you will get a combination of subthreshold and dynamic currents.
