Excellent ! I'd like information on that sort of action, to publish in our local newspaper. Perhaps there is more on some of the taxpayer websites, I'll check.

That's an inevitable perversion of representative democracy forseen since 1776, that "representatives" would pass assessments for themselves, with all righteous justification, but little effect other than increasing headcount. It's a constant battle at all levels of gov't. Happy bureacrats now take 40% out of the pockets of ignorant and helpless alike, while those wily enough to sidestep taxes do so. The cost to society is tremendous. I'd like to see someone use some kind of existing KEOGH plan for taxpayers, that avoids both taxes and legislation.

At a minimum, I'm looking for an effective national property-tax organization that fights in these 4,000 county jurisdictions for some sanity.
