Your points are well taken. If Mani's concept of Islam is to given the credit he believes then his wing of Islam ought to put up a more significant defense of their religion. The point is that Mani's Islam appears to be practiced only in the west, and perhaps in one or two countries in portions of North Africa (Morocco and perhaps portions of Algeria). Elsewhere from Persia, through the Gulf to the Russian and Chinese republics and provinces the version of Islam that seems to be dominant is vastly more hateful and violent than anything the west understood before. Either those advocates of a peaceful Islam make themselves felt in their world, or ultimately they alone will be the only ones believing that Islam is peaceful. Surely that is not being taught in the Middrash's of Pakestan, nor is it what we see in Kashmir, Chechnia, the MiddleEast and in the Gulf states. willyb
