realizing that I screwed up badly in the 20th on many fronts.

I think this is a great century list. I do think it is tilted somewhat toward the second half. While you want neither politicians or Americans to dominate too much, I think both Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson deserve some consideration. The former for bringing the USA from the depths of isolationism to acceptance of its role as a world power, and the latter for his visions of a forum for global cooperation (and protection of weaker nations), which while a failure in the form of the League of Nations, was the model and inspiration for the U.N.

Well, that's a good point. Most of the people on your list were dead or over the hill by the end of 1999. I, OTOH, am in my prime and still setting a standard for all men and women to strive after, and making a mark that the world will not forget for a thousand years.
