The worlds climate is so complex our most advanced computers cannot model it. We simply have not advanced enough as a species to be able accomplish this. Additionally, the earth's climate has been changing for thousands of years, and there is no reason to assume we (in this relatively short period of time) have impacted it in profoundly dangerous ways. Instead of being a pessimist and assuming we are destroying the planet. We should simply keep measuring the changes and try and understand the complexities involved. Every year brings new knowledge. Every year brings us closer to understanding this complex system. We should be open to this new knowledge, even if it doesn't fit our preconceived assumptions or ideals. Having said this, I would be remiss if I didn't point out the fact that the radical environmental left in America has already made its decision. We (humans) are a danger and must limit our economic activity in order to achieve nirvana with the environment. As if such a condition existed before the industrial age. Many of the same people who decided they could model an entire national economy by controlling the levers of commerce. Believe they can now control the worlds ecosystem by redistributing the energy generating capacity of every nation on earth. Their systems analysis is flawed. Their mental models of a fixed economic pie are flawed. And their ability to understand the dynamics of a continuously changing system, such as the worlds climate is deeply mistaken. Conservatives are by and large open to either possibility. While on the other hand, modern liberal left wing ideologues will never accept the notion (no matter how much scientific evidence is discovered), that we are not destroying the planet. Having already decided on the issue, many of them wanted to enact the Kyoto Protocols treaty which had broad reaching global economic effects, most of which impacted America far more dramatically then any other nation on earth. It was a simple minded marxist effort to redistribute the wealth of the world by controlling the energy output of our nation. It was dangerous to the economic health of our country. Dangerous to our nations soveign rights enumerated in the Constitution. And dangerous to freedom loving capitalistic countries following in our footsteps toward future economic prosperity. There is one large assumption which effects my analysis. I believe freedom, capitalism, democracy and the rule of law, create the environment around which a nation flourishes economically. And through economic success, it become environmentally cleaner, and thus more in alignment with the planetary ecosystem. I am open to having this assumption challenged. But if someone does wish to challenge it, I hope they come armed with both barrels fully loaded. :)
