Unions have there purpose and do have positives, they are not all negative as some of the buffoons here believe. As far as airlines go, there are twice as many as can be supported profitably and the govt has been bailing them out for thirty years. It is time for the bailouts to stop! You see all the new regulations all of which make flying a pain in the arse. Thus flying is going to get less popular unless we find a way to get the folks on board in less than two hours and the airports really functional and safe. So I say let half of em go bankrupt. Meanwhile people need jobs and the govt needs to think of ways to make sure that unemployment levels do keep increasing, peeing away money on disfunctional companies is not the solution. Creating jobs and opportunities is the way to keep unemployment levels down. BTW nobody cared when all the Steel companies went belly up!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they had a lot of high paying jobs
