AIR2LAN provides a range of broadband services, including high-speed wireless access, web hosting, wiresless Internet mobility services, network design, network security and VPN Solutions to businesses. AIR2LAN provides wireless connectivity via license-exempt spectrum at speeds ranging from 128 kilobits per second (kbps) to 4.5 megabits per second (mbps). Overview AIR2LAN utilizes the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz license-exempt spectrum to provide two-way, broadband service at speeds of up to 4.5 Mbps. AIR2LAN has successfully commercialized its fixed-wireless broadband Internet services in the markets of Jackson, Miss.; Houston, Tex.; New Orleans, La.; and Montgomery, Ala. The company initially launched its services in Jackson Mississippi in May 2000. Since AIR2LAN’s launch, the company has managed to turn a profit in its original market of Jackson MS. In Jackson, the company has managed to establish a 12 percent penetration rate amongst addressable small and medium businesses. AIR2LAN has also rapidly deployed three additional markets, completed three successful rounds of funding, and established an impressive roster of strategic partners and investors including Wi-LAN Inc, a fixed-wireless equipment manufacturer, and Parkway Properties, a nationally recognized commercial real estate firm. The company has announced plans to deploy six additional markets in 2002 and grow to 40 markets by the end of 2005. Market Focus AIR2LAN focuses its efforts in each market on providing broadband services to small and medium-sized businesses. The company deploys its network in business-dense areas of each market, minimizing the high costs of providing service to an entire metropolitan area. AIR2LAN utilizes equipment manufactured by Wi-LAN (RF), Cisco Systems (networking), Netscreen Technologies (security) and others to provide broadband services. Management AIR2LAN's management team has a unique mix of technical and implementation experience. Chairman and CEO Jai P. Bhagat led the development and deployment of the first national two-way messaging network as CEO of SkyTel Communications, the messaging giant and WorldCom unit. AIR2LAN senior management has experience managing ISPs, web hosting, web development, systems engineering, network consulting, and software development companies. Three recent acquisitions have aided the company's development. In December of 2001, AIR2LAN announced its acquisition of CyberHighway of Jackson, which provided businesses with high-speed access to the Internet, web hosting, web development and other broadband services.
