gao, as I recall you want the faster 256 cache, I was using nothing but 200mhz Ppro's until coppermine, that was just a Ppro core running faster. I'm going to buy a couple of 866 or 900?? coppers this week.

but the new 1.2gig celeron with 256 is interesting pricewise. but over 800meg you have to start thinking about rdr or rambus as speen does no increase with clock well. Also my main man alan indicated he thinks a big? interesting price drop may occur end of jan. but I'm just a coppermine happy person myself.

As to what one does with linux. Remember I have 13 thousand going on 14 thousand published photos and The Biggest Anaglyphs on Earth.

With linux I can image process my 2560x1920 images while using local resources as part of burning a cdrom. Until you have a system that never ever slow like my linux systems, you will never understand the value of multitasking.

I have several editors open to 6 different scripts. 4 browsers with 50 or so windows open. 5 image progams open with 2560x1920 and other extra large images.

I also can get my streaming iqcharts and streaming realtime quotes and my systems run for months and never hang.

I've already put my nt4 box to sleep with one or two tasks. xp and win 2000 may get me to 3 tasks.
