IT Indicators:
I've just made some revisions to what I used to call my group of Nasdaq Business Expectations Indicators. Now I'm including "mentions" re prominent NYSE listed companies such as IBM and Motorola, eliminating the past 3mo part of the Recent Past & Present component, and merging the "Present Conditions" aspect into the Next 3Mo component. Basically Next 3Mo Exp is a contrarian indicator, Next 4-8Mo Exp usually is as well, but sometimes leads the Nasdaq. Next 9-15Mo Expectations is proving to be the most valuable component. It appears that long-term buy and hold investors and/or possibly institutional money managers focus on it and that it takes 2 to 4 wks from the change in the tone of the news flow to the Nasdaq Market impact. These indicators are computed by analyzing the written and televised financial news content on a daily basis, with an emphasis on the mood or emotional content rather than the objective data being reported.
