On the 7th of December, Telemobil officially launched the Zapp Mobile service. The event took place at Telemobil's headquarters, in the presence of Dan Nica, the Minister of IT&C and Michael Guest, the US Ambassador to Romania.
"Our Zapp mobile phones will become a sort of portable office. We are happy that through this service we can contribute to the development of the Romanian telecom industry," said Diwaker Singh, President of Telemobil. CDMA2000, the technology on which the service is based, is 3G wireless transmission developed by Qualcomm, an American company that also has 50 percent of Inquam, the owner of Telemobil.
Monthly Zapp Mobile subscriptions vary between $5 and $85. The tariffs for phone conversations are comparable with those offered by other mobile operators on the Romanian market.
