I still stand by my statements. There are no lasting trouble spots in the world of any magnitude. The Muslims are poofs. Historically they only attacked east or to convert some neighbour who had a strong military and an antithetical religion or culture. So you will get anti Hindu wars and anti Iranian wars, etc.. but no wars of conquest over Europe or China. Same with China. Historically the Chinese do not conquer very far beyond their borders very successfully.

What will be thorns are immigration in order to influence, spying in droves, and constant pressure and sub military action, i.e. terrorism. It is aggravated by the strong, almost paranoid military pressure the US exerts in the ME under Israel's paranoid and long running historical, monetary and religious influence in the west. It would be difficult indeed to displace this influence as it goes back some 1100 years in Britain and Europe. In some ways the Jews exhibited some economic sensibility against the pressure of the Catholic repression and dogma in defending Europe so they got their wedge in many years ago amongst progressive business and defensive Kings and Barons.

I don't see the WTC as any major setback. Of course if I was in the building I would be some angry. Angry at the architects, city standards, and the kind of attitude that spawned this attack on both sides. It was also very very bad thinking that allowed terrorists into cockpits to accede to their demands as a matter of safety. Why let them into the cockpit? You can still land the plane with them in the back.

(I see all kinds of this bad thinking extant. It must be some kind of committee of engineers who think they are systems analysis geniuses who are making all the wrong decisions. I saw it in the blood supply management. Use of DDT and herbecides on wheat fields. Firing of scientists who tested pesticides in Canada for certification. (Mulroney) Engineering of some Detroit iron 4 wheeled pyrobots. Cost driven disasters. We had better weed this kind of thinking out fast. "Better safe than sorry" is far better at many costs than what we have been doing so far.)

There is a difficulty in attacking the rich. They have lots of money to shoot back with. Wars are won with money and arms. The fr. used to say, God favours big battalions.

In the long term, i.e. looking ahead about 50 to 75 years we have to think, who "we" are, and whether we can stick to that "we" or will "we" become a different group. It is pretty hard to mix religions. Races mix naturally but what outlook do they pick? Right now the Muslims will not live side by side with our mix of religious and non religious cultures without wanting to level the people more than we can stand. (If we do the levelling by a gradual erosion of freedoms, it seems we can stand quite a bit.)

If we fully pull back from giving any Muslim group too much to shoot back with we would give up dependence on foreign oil which we have to eventually anyway. Let them find their own economic level. Of course poor countries can always spend a few billion on WOMD. Bombs etc .. Even a few billion on reliable delivery systems. And detection systems. But a really reliable, detection, navigation, support, defense and attack system, with cruise, anti radar, BM and ABM with theatre defense and AD, not MAD is very, very expensive. It requires an army of at least 2 million and lots of allies with common causes that are above dispute. For the next 50 years the Muslims, if they did have an overwhelming reason to be paranoid and build such a system, cannot compete. They don't have the industry or the money or the trade to get it with. They are short some resources. The oil money and the short resources could be part of their problem AAMOF.
