I suspect the CHIP sector will lead the recovery, followed by the networking Carriers who in turn will be followed by the equipment vendors.

Maybe the industry will recover this way. I would note that semis have done much better in 2001 than equipment vendors by such a wide margin. So even as the recovery unfolds as you suggest, the trading in the stocks in the coming months may not reflect it in that order this year. That is why I believe there is a chance that the equipment vendors could outdo the chips this year. The carriers are not that speculative so they may also have a good year considering how bad things have been in 2001.

btw-Surprised by how weak biotechs are today; this sector along with Microsoft holding back the Nasdaq up to this point..
