peter:

I suspect, as mentioned previously, that today's consumer pricing for 1.5 to 2.0 gig systems, both AMD's and INTCy's, is sufficiently low so as to 'cause a flurry of upgrading from the previous installed base of 500 to 700 MHz...To purchase a 1.5 to 2.0 gig system today costs almost 50% of what a 500 to 700 MHz system cost 2 years ago...Not only astonishing but also a major incentive for upgrading, methinks!!!

Re: "K&M Elektronik has only three (!!!) AMD CPUs in stock"

I just checked at several other online hardware vendors in Germany. CSD-Computer has not one single AMD CPU in stock. FortKnox has only one AMD processor in stock (the Athlon C 1000). At least Alternate and Avitos have AMD CPUs available.

I really don't know what is going on. I have never seen that before. It looks really strange. Either there is some overwhelming demand for the Athlon or certain online vendors have decided to phase out AMD processors - which I cannot believe.

Maybe AMD should allocate more processors to Germany.
