Go to Start/settings/control panel and add-remove programs applet. Click IE 5.5 and click remove. This should present you with a window with the option of reverting to a previous version, repair or remove. Try repairing it. If it doesn't work you will be instructed to run IE setup again.

You can also go to start/run and type in msinfo32 and clik ok. Under tools you should find internet explorer repair tool.
