Jacob, you fit the profile of The Millionaire Next Door, a creature who is to be emulated. Unfortunately, 99% of Americans do not fit TMND's profile as well as you do. Definitely not the norm.

I'm the spendthrift in my household. I like all kinds of fancy things because this is my only ride around the sphere. Might as well enjoy it. Money is made to be spent. You can't take it with you is the only valid truism in a world full of cliches. Don't get me wrong, my debt is not excessive and I don't spend money I don't have. Excess cash that could be invested, however, I prefer to spend.

My wife, on the other hand, is the tight one. Keeps me in line.

By the way, I read your post on the outlook for '02. I think you're about 75% correct. On balance, things look a bit more bleak to me than positive. I do like your strategy for the year.
