LOL!
But I am lazy <g> and in the long run find it easier to plant the ones I get from a local nursery.

I won't start the tomatoes until about mid March or beginning of April. can set them out here until about the first week of june. I'll also start the chilies early too as they should be about 2 months old before I set them out. if I'm feeling ambitious this year(knock on wood) I'm going to start some melons inside this year. I do set aside one section and throw our store bot melon compost there. Usually some of the seeds will germinate and I will get some produce from them. But since they mostly come from the west coast, the growing season here isn't long enough and the crop is very thin.

I have had similar problems like that in the past too. But my cats think it is a meal when they smell the fish emulsion I mix with the water to feed the seedlings. I have to keep remembering to close the door to the area. But you can imagine the frustration when you head to water them early in the morning. I get down there all full of vigor with a nice cup of coffee hoping to talk to the seedlings and end up cursing the cats as I clean up the mess :-(((((
