Yes, I have worked intimately with the military for thirty years and nothing could be further from the truth than to say Clinton didn't care about the military. He recognized that we didn't need to increase military spending so he put no emphasis on increasing spending. In fact he should have cut military spending as should Bush. The military budget is bloated by at least 33%. It is the generals and admirals responsibility to spend the 300+ Billion they get wisely, they are not, and the Bush administration is compounding this by buildling a useless shield that will cause an arms race and a more unstable world. So forget it you have no argument about Clinton because three soldiers perspective from where they sit after forty or so levels of management launder the money is irrelevant in terms of Clinton's committment, which I know was solid.

I will say it again the military budget is bloated by at least 33% and full of waste fraud and mismanagement. There are more generals and admirals than at any time in US history and the troop levels are 40% below cold war levels. The budget is over 300B and growing and is larger than the next nine countries budgets added together most of which are US allies except for China. So tell me who is the enemy that we need even more defense money to prepare for. What we need is an efficient effective fighting machine structured for today's battles not a behemoth structured to fight the cold war. This flawed mentality is partially responsible for 9/11 to be pulled off. It was a disgrace to our military, the FAA, the CIA, and FBI, that it happened without so much as one line of defense being used!
