Tenchu, lower prices can still yield higher margins as long as yields go up and other costs fall faster.
The experience curve with CPUs does this quite a lot.

Mr. Sanders suggested a q4 ASP of $72 up from $61 in q3...Nothing at all gradual about any ASP decline in those numbers!!!

your "EDIT" clarified it. 4q athlon xp prices were higher than 3q athlons. It is not yet clear what effect higher athlon asps would have because of the even lower older athlons asps.
