Marked by blithe unconcern; nonchalant. [French : in-, not (from Old French; see in–1) + souciant, present participle of soucier, to trouble (from Old Frenchfrom Vulgar Latin *sollicītārealteration of Latin sollicitāre, to vex; see solicit).] I still need to thank Maria Bartiromo for causing me to sell 90% of CSCO around 42. She saved me from incurring a huge loss. Actually on CSCO it was a huge gain, but margin costs and other stocks took care of most of that. Well, some INTC was tossed in also, so that by the end of this wild 'firesale' I had reduced my margin to one tenth of its previous value. I would have been 'toast' if I hadn't taken drastic action in Dec of 2000. (I could well have ended up owing the brokerage houses money, unless they had pulled the plug quickly). I am sure that we have SI friends that totally lost it all! One of my good friends confided in me that he only had about 3 cents for each dollar that he started out with. He kept on answering margin calls by selling as little as he had to, and that ended up whittling his portfolio down to 3 cents on the dollar. Money is really not all that important when put in the proper perspective with all the suffering in the world. It is, however, fun to win at this 'in home gambling casino'! So you would add that back to determine the theoretical ending inventory? Nothing theoretical here, just gambling plays that have been slowed down a bit. Heck, I am currently settling for an average annual compounded return of 24.9% over 12 years. (Shucks, it used to be about 60%!) Life goes on rolling the dice, but I am still looking for a guru to follow...humble carl
