Democrats usually get the edge in these polls because of the long-perpetrated myth that "Democrats are for the 'little guy'". The continually-increasing fallout from the impeachment fix, the aborted theft of the 2000 election through massive fraud, and incessant promotion of racial hatred and class warfare, are moving the indecisive "middle" away from the Party of Fraud.

Look for an Ardennes offensive of negativity in the 2002 off-year elections by the Democrats. The Carville/Begala talking points will be chanted in every House district and Senate race until people who can't find their way off the archaic liberal network channels are mumbling them in their sleep. The counter by Republicans will be to focus on this well-oiled propaganda machine, and it's parallels with the similar Nazi and Soviet ones of the past. If the recent damage done to Daschle's carefully-cultivated public image is any indication, the Republicans will win an off-year landslide.

Look for the pending Bush State of the Union speech to put the American left on the defensive for the rest of the year, dragging Democrat candidates to ruin with them...
