Great post and I agree with you for the most part especially the regulation and budget positions. On the environment since I have seen firsthand areas that have been destroyed by environmental abuse by corporations I tend to side with the environmentalists until proof is given that they have gone too far. Until now the abuse of the environment has gone to far, ie the Ozone hole. So we are on opposite sides there but more toward the middle.

As far as defense I know first hand that the waste is monumental and that we develop and procure weapons systems that are not particularly useful and that there is tremendous overlap in the services and that the fat is at least 33%. So it disgusts me that most of our leaders are clamoring for more money to spent on defense when we can't find the enemy and misuse the budget we already have which is way much more than needed. Ah the pork barrel!

The fat could spent on something useful like health care.
