If you got less than six answers right, you're an
environmental devil. Start by putting out that cigarette,
switch off the air conditioning and trade your Jag in for a
bike

Umm, I don't smoke, don't drive a Jag and I live in Louisiana, so I NEED my air conditioning!

I was surprised by some of the answers!

You should be surprised, because it is set up to give the answers the writers of it want you to believe. It is based on the so called I=PAT equation- environmental Impact equals Population, multiplied by consumption,(Affluence), and further multiplied by Technology.

Modern Malthusians claim that people in developed countries overconsume and create even more environmental problems than poor people living in developing countries. The I-PAT formula actually gets it backwards. Greater affluence and technological sophistication mean an improving natural environment, not a worsening one.

The average American worker's output today is 10 times more valuable than 100 years ago, making it possible for Americans to devote resources to protecting and restoring the natural environment.

To sum it up, the average Westerner creates more resources, especially knowledge and technology, the she or he consumes. That is why they live in countries where both their economies and their environments are improving.
