I have heard more than once the market LEADS the economic recovery by 6-9 months. if Sept was the bottom then we are 4 months into the "recovery"

only time will tell. CCMP short anyone? puts? i covered. will look to short at higher prices

I've got to believe it's the 80/20 rule. Your buddy is part of maybe 20% who are like that, but there's still 4 out of 5 who are not.
So maybe the 20% can be carried for a rather long time......
