Tumbleweed,

re: Others will print a picture, say "That is absolute sh**" and leave digital alone for a considerable time :-)

Remember, Kodak made a lot of money selling 110 cartridge cameras, with a negative the size of the average little finger nail. That format didn't made an "acceptable" 3R (3.25" X 5") print. The masses are not looking for fine art prints, they are mostly looking for "snapshots".

A certain percentage of the low end buyers will get hooked on digicams, take it more seriously, and step up to a better camera. A percentage of those will make it a hobby, and spend serious dollars. But you need that entry price point to spread the gospel (and to generate parts volume and scale economies). And at $59.95, there is almost a compelling case vs. emulsion. By next Christmas, $29.95 to $39.95 (????), most low end purchasers will opt for digital, IMHO.
