U.S., Citing Help in Fight Against Terrorism, Speeds Up $959 Million of Aid to Egypt
The Associated Press
Published: Jan 3, 2002

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - The Bush administration sped up payment of nearly $1 billion in foreign aid to Egypt on Thursday, saying the United States owed quick economic help to its "key partner" in the war on terrorism.
President Bush's decision to accelerate disbursement of aid to Egypt is "in line with the president's commitment to help our important ally weather current global economic difficulties and the post-Sept. 11 shock to the Egyptian economy," said White House deputy press secretary Scott McClellan.

"This accelerated assistance - valued at $959 million - to a key partner in the campaign against terrorism and the pursuit of Middle East peace will support Egypt's implementations of its economic reform program," McClellan added.

The annual foreign aid spending bill passed by Congress last month gives Egypt a total of nearly $2 billion in the current budget year.

Hi Lorne- I really have no sympathy for the illegals. They're not supposed to be here in the first place, and in the second place they know they're not supposed to be here, and the leniency we've shown in the past was bad policy. 3000+ people are dead partly because we weren't vigilant in our policies.

Well, we can't change the past no matter how hard we try.

But we can change or at least influence the future.

It doesn't really matter whether or not any of them are actually connected to terrorists or not. That's what some people don't seem to understand.

It's time people stopped worrying about these illegals and started worrying about themselves.
