Thanks Abed for the correction, in that respect (lunar calendar), Jews follow a very similar one (with slightly, or maybe even drastically, different intercalation to adjust to the solar year). as fo th crescent on the flags, I know at least six such crescent bearing flags ( Algeria, Mauritania, Malaysia, Pakistan, Tunisia, Turkey). Nothing is wrong with a religious symbol nor putting on the flag as I mentioned, Christian use the cross on some of their flags, and Israel has the Azure stripes (and some would say the shield of David is a religious symbol as well) as a religiously related symbol. len was critical of the Israeli flag, thus my bringing up the fact that other nations do not shy from bearing religious symbols on their respective flags.
