Well, I think it is more adapting technology to the digital battlefield rather than developing the technology. Our fighter aircraft are still using 1975 and earlier vintage data busses for communication which are 100's of times slower than what is used in my cable system as we type. That is a shame. The military no longer leads the technology curve because leading technologies have much greater commercial value than military value. It is quite obsolete to think we get a lot of spinoffs from military technology now. But the fact remains that R&D is suffering as I alluded to with my data bus example.
