Gary. Something about gold.

About a week or two ago, it occurred to me that the Euro launch was like an enormous IPO with governments and CB acting much like Investment Bankr Syndicates do when a large new stock offering goes public on WS. The major financial houses do what they could to ensure a smooth introduction by stabilizing the market. With a stock IPO it's standard operating procedure to "support" the new stock during and in the days immediately following the offering.

It hit me that major CBs and governments would do much the same with the Euro this week and prehaps next. It looks to me as if they've been intervening in the gold as well as currency markets to minimize volatility.

We've certainly seen very low volatility in gold, especially considering the huge international stresses with India/Pakistan as well as in Argentina.

Just a thought, FWIW,
