but to go long hoping to capture the last 5 - 10%? -- that I don't understand

tip, the naz was up over 3% today and the sox 8%. i exited RFMD with a 10% gain and left TQNT with over 20% profit on the trade. now that style may not be for you, but to say you don't understand isn't justified.

i'd rather book 10-20% of profits and reasses than hold a short through that move. if you want me to call a 'daq target of 2500-3000 you can forget it. by the same token, i am not calling a top either.

I have some Mar QQQ puts. I'll give the position maybe three weeks to go green (~QQQ < 39), if it doesn't, or if QQQ goes 42+, I will pull the plug and take deeper OTM puts for later in the year. To paraphrase a board-mate, I have already "mentally capitulated" on this position.

Today I also picked up Jun/Jul puts on NVDA and TXN and I have no worries at all about those positions.

If SOX is green tomorrow I may grab some puts on that, too.
