I'm not sure what might ever have happened to the 10th SFG; a long time ago they had elements in Bad Tolz, Germany LSP5, for many years, the 10th SFG HQ was in bad toelz. A, B, and C companies 10th SFG were in lenggries approx 11 km away. most of the 10th relocated to ft devens mass....and eventually to your good guess on ft carson, colorado. the 10th is located there now in a beautiful new facility at the base of pike's peak. the 10th has maintained a forward unit (a Bn i think) near stuttgart, germany. the reporters could be seeing ODAs, Delta operators, Rangers, ISA agents or units as common as Marines or Civil Affairs officers you have a pretty good handle on this...but since you did not know exactly where all the groups are now, coupled with the ISA remark, i am going to guess that you have a connection to MI. i am very familiar with ISA and its roots...ISA no longer exists. it folded a number of years ago after the press figured it out and exposed them in articles. i cannot figure out why so many reporters are always so intent on publishing what was, at the time, current OPSEC info like that. that kind of news creates an additional big burden for guys who are already deployed doing the nation's most hazardous work...maintaining a cover is difficult at best...i find it an act of treason to place these guys in additional harm's way by publishing legitimately classified information about the unit, themselves or their missions, for the sake of selling a magazine article. intellit.muskingum.edu i was told yesterday that most or all of the info on the 39th has been declassified...somebody will get around to writing about them soon. I believe the 50 Year Anniversary Edition of "The Drop" going to press next week will include a short story about that unit. i do believe that we continue to have unidentified units involved in clandestine activities around the world. it is much better for the security and safety of the men in those units not to discuss them in an open forum. at a minimum, we should leave them covered as long as they have folks deployed...after the units are deactivated, dig like hell but until then oversight belongs to W, JCS, and the congressional intel committees, and press releases, if any, should be handled by DOD... unclewest
