My experience from the mid 70's thru mid 80's was that the biggest part of the mini bull moves, say 80-90% was completed in a 6-9 month time frame. This would suggest that the April-June quarter would be a good time to take money off the table. As far as point levels, your guess would be as good as mine.

These "mini" moves seem to be more a function of time then points. The bear cycles seem to last a little longer roughly 15-18 months which would have corresponded with the April 2000-September 2001 bear market.

This is how I'm playing it for better or for worse. Keep in mind that I manage money and really don't engage in day trading in my customers accounts. The important thing is to always have a plan and expect the unexpected.
