Ken Lay, Enron's CEO, is a very good friend of the Bushies. Also, Kenneth Lay had the pleasure to spend many nights at Poppy Bush's White House. I believe Bill Clinton played a round of golf with Ken Lay I don't consider that a big deal. Enron was NOT a big contributor to the Democratic party. What is very bad for the White House is that Cheney collaborated in secret with Ken Lay on the Bush Energy bill. They never kept any minutes of their meetings. Also, we have heard that when the Federal Regulator balked at the Cheney-Lay proposal, he was fired and replaced with someone who agreed. If Cheney had nothing to hide we would tell Congress the names of the people, apart from Lay, who participated in the creation of the Bush energy policy. Cheney has refused to do so. Have you noticed that Cheney has literally disappeared from the political scene? We thought it might be his health. Now, I believe it could be his connection with Kenneth Lay, Enron's, CEO. "Lay and Enron together donated $2 million to George W. Bush. In 2000, a company memo that was an open strong-arm recommended employees give campaign checks for Bush to the political action committee: low-level managers were urged to contribute $500 and senior executives at least $5,000. Another $1 million was given to mostly Republican congressional candidates. It gave more money last cycle than any other energy company. Lawrence B. Lindsey, Bush's top economic adviser, got $50,000 from Enron in 2000 for consulting, presumably giving the company the same excellent economic advice now proving so healthy for the nation's economy. Karl Rove, Bush's top political strategist, sold between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of Enron stock earlier this year, after being criticized for conflict of interest."
