it was a bear market rally while the 1 percent moving average of the NYSE and NASD up - down volume oscillators stayed below zero, and the NYSE a-d line stayed below the 1982 through 1994 trendline

now it is probably a bullmarket rally, unless some or all of the above go back below zero and/or the a-d trendline breaks back below that trendline

monetary conditions are considerably more favorable than they were during the 1973 - 1974 bear market rally
