i'm amazed people have any money left to spend at PF Changs (though as i report regularly to Patron I walk by it nearly every night and there's a huge crowd milling around the bar waiting for a table). i guess these actions are reflected in the "expectations" component of the Consumer Confidence Index, which has a huge rise last month. people "expect" ("hope", "pray", "anecdotal evidence suggests", whatever) that things will get better. and since the whole economy is a shell game held together by confidence, i guess if the consumer is confident then he's right, QED <g>

btw, did anybody notice the employment report this AM. the headline number was in-line, but PRIVATE payrolls actually declined a much larger-than-expected 187k, with adds in the government sector (presumably for hazmat workers) making up the difference.
