AOL might be a preview of what is in store for softie.

Softie continues to diversify its business making investments in cable and telecom. I noticed that they bought a stake in a Korean telecom company in some form. They may continue to do so and perhaps make a huge content aquisition.

These businesses probably won't have the same margins and growth rates as their software business. The investment community may have to value softie differently down the road.

Anyway, this could fit the theory that if and when a new bull resumes, the old guard does not lead the way in terms of stock price appreciation.
