Of course, I do not entirely agree with any organization. But there are degrees of disagreement, and some call into question the judgment of those in charge to an exceptional degree. I find it odd that you should be so sure my opinion in the Skokie case was merely emotional. I have no objection to the ACLU defending the rights of Nazis to march (by the way, freedom of assembly, not speech, is the issue here). I do not mind them showing even- handedness by occasionally defending the Klan. But I do not believe that freedom of assembly, which is always subject to reasonable time and place restrictions, should allow that Nazis to go through a neighborhood filled with Holocaust survivors as a provocation and publicity stunt. Their right to demonstrate would not have been materially impaired by moving it "down the road". Yes, I think the the ACLU would be a better organization, with enhanced credibility, if it were capable of making such distinctions........
