You're fighting the trend, here. Overvalued stocks that are in favor, have an irritating tendency to get more overvalued. Better to wait till the trend has changed, IMO.

My short candidates are housing stocks and telecom/network equip.

Housing has had a big run, and the stocks are acting "immune" to macro events. Remember when stocks like EMC and NTAP and CSCO and JNPR were supposed to be "immune"?

Telecom/network equip stocks aren't acting as frisky as other techs. CSCO stalling at about 20, JNPR stalling at 27, and then there are real stinkers like LU and NT. The overbuilding during the Bubble was concentrated in their area, so it'll take the longest for the overcapacity to get used. IMO, it'll be 2003 before telecom companies start increasing equip budgets. Which means the stocks of the companies who sell them equip, aren't going anywhere for a while. Storage, on the other hand, will be among the first where demand comes back (I think).
