Daniel,

I want to open by stating that I have never shorted EDS stock, but have said I would several times. I feel your latest comments blaming the financial press (plus shorters) for the current fall in price may be unfounded if you look at the sequence of events that took place.

1. Enron went belly up and it was discovered they were using off-balance sheet transactions.
RESULTS: Fear among the investment community

2. Herb Greenberg asked EDS about off-balance sheet transactions and was given the comment that EDS does not disclose off-balance sheet transactions for competitive reasons.
RESULTS: Omission of using those types of transactions were assumed by shareholders
Fear and concern develops among the investment community
Average shareholder begins to sell
The Shorts begin to see an opportunity to driving the price down

3. Jim Cramer has article concerning EDS and his selling experience base on Greenberg’s story
RESULTS: Shareholders and Shorts pick up the pace to sell

4. Jeff Baum for EDS in an article discloses what off-balance sheet transactions means to EDS
RESULTS: Average shareholder stops selling
Sad but target prices are hit and computer selling starts

Summary:
Don’t reporters have the right to ask about off-balance sheet transactions to a company?
Was EDS so insensitive to how the shareholders would take comments that EDS does not disclose off-balance sheet transactions for competitive reasons?
The whole world knew about Enron and the words off-balance sheet transactions
Are your views too narrow in scope or are you too close to EDS to see that maybe this could have been avoided?

BOTTOM LINE : As the thread title states “Is this a buying opportunity?” At 63.??, yes, I jumped in with both feet and I have to say I thank EDS for their help
